Phir Milenge

Was playing on Sahara last night. Finally got to watch it. Liked it. A pretty decent movie. Upbeat. Liked it most about the way it handled the issue of HIV. No histrionics. Sorrow, hurt, determination. But no histrionics. No blackening the character of Salman Khan. In fact, nothing about how he got HIV in the first place (which a lot of people seem to expect for reasons beyond my limited powers of comprehension), focussing instead, merely on the issue of an HIV positive woman fighting for her rights in Indian society TODAY.

I liked the movie, yet was very disappointed. It totally lacked emotional impact. Could be due to Shilpa Shetty's acting genius, but ultimately it's the director's failure to get the audience connected to the characters.

Actually, I liked it because of the lack of too much emotionalism. Though I should mention here that I watched about 10 minutes in the beginning when Tamanna & Rohit (thats his name, right?) meet, and then, the rest of the movie starting from when she sues her company. So I did miss some important parts- Would have liked to see how the director handled her getting to know that shes HIV+. But in the court scenes per se, I was glad there were now histrionics.
